Prerequisite: Enrollment by permission of Coordinator
Course Description:
Students enrolled in the Marketing Education Program acquire work experience in and training with a business person who provides part-time employment in a marketing-related job for which they receive school credit plus pay. A minimum of 15 hours work experience per week for ½ unit of credit or 20 hours work experience per week for 1 unit of credit is required in an APPROVED marketing job.
Objectives:
The student will be able to:
- perform tasks in a work setting with a minimum of supervision.
- set, pursue, and attain goals in a work setting.
- perform job duties accurately and professionally.
- handle work situations through personal resources and knowledge.
- adapt to the work environment.
- perform an acceptable volume of work in a job setting.
- attend work regularly and promptly. follow instructions in a work setting.
- cooperate with employers, employees, clients, and customers.
- dress appropriately for the work environment.
- identify appropriate behaviors that demonstrate good human relations such as team work, cooperation, and flexibility.
Basic skills are enhanced and applied in the three components of the Marketing Education program: classroom instruction, internship/project method, and leadership development (DECA).

Special Requirements:
Students must provide their own transportation to the work site.
Students must have a valid drivers license.
A Cooperative Training Agreement and a Training Plan among the student, parent, school, and employer must be completed at the beginning of the semester or during the semester if a job change should occur. Students must follow ll rules and regulations contained in the signed Cooperative Training Agreement.
Each student is required to keep a monthly work report of the number of hours worked and the wages earned.
